Depression

Is a Big Deal

How many residents are affected?

Studies estimate ~20–35% of nursing-home residents experience major depression or clinically significant depressive symptoms

Environmental Isolation

Loneliness and limited social contact can worsen mood and health for residents. Regular, meaningful visits help

Reversal of Depression

Social connection and regular visits are associated with fewer depressive symptoms and improved well-being among long-term-care residents

What Drives Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to visit, cherish, and celebrate older adults — especially those in nursing homes and assisted-living communities — through year-round gift drives and an annual volunteer day

Get Involved

Saturday, Sept 13, 2025

On the second Saturday of September, our volunteers go into teams to bring gifts for seniors. We collect gifts for our seniors throughout the year. National Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day.

Like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, we also have a whole day dedicated to our grandparents. Grandparents and children have a special connection that is proven to make grandparents live longer. It also makes children more emotionally resilient. Grandparents Day is an opportunity to treasure that connection.
